Oakleigh CC Club Champions Season 2003/04 & 2004/05

OCC Poker Title

The inaugural OCC Poker title is building up to its climatic finish. A tournament that started with 25 players as been cut, leaving 12 players to fight out the title. Each player listed below, with his (or in Venus' case, her) strengths and weaknesses. Federer sits atop after claiming the Minor premiership in a tightly fought tussle, where his consistency in reaching the final at all 4 majors was just too good McEnroe. However, the year ending Shangai Masters will display the best of the best from the year and Federer faces a tough task in holding off the challengers. Who will win??

Also, all TAB sporstbet odds are listed at the bottom, so be quick and get on your pick for the title. Or your pick for first out...

1. Matthew Donnelly (Roger Federer on Clay) - Dangles is the Roger Federer
of the OCC Poker League. He cruises through the early exchanges and remains
ultra calm under pressure. The ultimate professional. The query is though,
just like the Fed Express on Clay is that he'll make the final and not
start favourite. The Fed doesn't play with enough topspin, the Dangler just
doesn't earn enough chips before getting into a heads up battle....

2. Michael Splatt (John McEnroe) - Ones a loud mouthed, big noting brat who
won a few tournaments and cries like a baby when he loses....the other used
to play tennis and is now a decent tennis commentator. Lets only hope Mick
takes up Poker commentry so he can also turn into a decent bloke.

3. Andrew Splatt (Patrick McEnroe) - Just like Patrick, Andy is a far
better bloke than his older brother. Also just like Patrick, Andy can't
really play all that well....

4. Jarrod Travaglia (Nadal on any surface other than clay) - Nadal thinks
he looks good with his 3/4 pants but is always plucking his undies out of
his ar$e. JT just thinks he looks good and plucks cards out of his ar$e.
Both fancy themselves in any contest and really start sooking when things
don't go their way...pretentious little brats the pair of them really.

5. Marcus Spencer (Goran Ivanisevic) - Both are very dangerous floaters who
you don't want to get stuck with in a battle early in a tournament as on
their day can beat anyone. However, the chance of their style of play
coming off is about 1 in 50 (I got nothing but I'm all in...) and neither
ever sustains their good run. Avoid Goran...I mean Spence...early on and
you'll do well, but he could be an easy collect off later in the final....

6. Hodgey (Andy Murray) - Highest ranked Brit on the circuit who's just no
good really.

7. Barry Ensil (Venus Williams) - Both wear far too much bling for their
chosen sport and believe they are much better than they are, but are
capable on their day of winning tournaments.

8. Ben Pinwill (Lleyton Hewitt) - Both are former No 1's, both have slipped
dramatically in the rankings. Neither even looks like getting anywhere near
winning anything anymore and infact their rankings fall further with every
tournament they enter. The similarities don't stop there either. Lleyton
used to be good when he had a reliable partner who he practised with in
Kimmy Clijsters, Spike used to be good when he was with Shell, now that
Lleyton is with glamour girl Bec he hasn't looked like winning
anything....much the same as Spike now that he's with Carly.....

9. Brad Nicolson (David Ferrer) - No-one knows how Ferrer is in the World
top 10 tennis players, just like no-one can understand how Nico is in the
top 10 Oakleigh players.

10. Daniel Junkeer (James Blake) - Junks, just like Blake, looks the part,
talks the part, but has never won anything, infact has never looked like
winning anything, infact both just can't play and are highly over-rated.

11. Ben Drew (David Nalbandian) - Both are all round good guys who can
occassionally cause an upset, but generally don't threaten on a regular
basis.

12. Brendan Pauwels (Nicolay Davydenko) - Both are perennial quarter/semi
finalists who have never threatened to win anything.
